WHAT ABOUT ANESTHESIA?
The anesthesia option chosen for you will be based on your physical condition, reaction to medication, type of surgery, and other factors.
ANESTHESIA SAFETY
Anesthesia care is safer and more comfortable than it's ever been due to improvements in drugs, technology, anesthesia techniques and provider education. You will find the same standard of anesthesia care at the Ciano Ambulatory Surgical Facility as you find at the hospitals. As the demand for ambulatory surgery grows, the state of California has adopted regulations and guidelines concerning ambulatory surgery and anesthesia practices to ensure patient safety. Currently 82 percent of all surgical procedures are performed in an ambulatory facility.
ANESTHESIA SELECTION Anesthesia allows you to be comfortable during your surgical procedure.
There are several kinds of anesthesia:
· Sedation and Anesthesia
· Local Anesthesia
· Regional Anesthesia
· General Anesthesia
How much pain will I have?
Some procedures (eyelid, nose) are virtually painless; most are typically a “bruised or swollen feeling” rather than severe pain. This is mainly due to advanced techniques in anesthesia and combinations of drugs during the surgery itself.
When can I go back to work?
With exceptions (based on individual tolerance) modified or full work can resume as little as 7-14 days following surgery. Obviously this is also affected by the job requirements.
When can I exercise?
After two weeks, exercise can progress from simple walking to unlimited by 4-6 weeks. This applies to major or multiple procedures as well.
When can I drive?
By the end of the first week following surgery, driving short distances is acceptable, as well as most light activities.
When can I use the steam room/sauna, jacuzzi or go swimming?
Six weeks after surgery is the recommended for these activities.
